Ed joined the Oxford Vaccine Group in January 2018. He has a PhD in Immunology and HIV-1 from the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, University of Oxford. He then conducted clinical studies on blood-borne prion infectivity at the University of California, San Francisco. During the Ebola outbreak in 2015, Ed was deployed to Sierra Leone to diagnose patients, built capacity and set up survivors surveillance programme. As a project manager, Ed is facilitating pre-clinical vaccine development in the lab as well as managing clinical trials of vaccines against Ebola, Meningitis and Hepatitis.
