Typhoid Strategic Award Programme Manager
Susan joined the Oxford Vaccine Group in June 2015 as the Typhoid Strategic Award Programme Manager. The overall aim of this research is to provide the science to underpin the implementation of new vaccines for the control of enteric fever in different epidemiological settings in Africa and Asia.
Prior to this Susan was a Senior Research Support Associate in Clinical Trials and Research Governance (CTRG), University of Oxford. Her role was to assist University clinical researchers through advice, support, guidance and training on activities such as writing protocols, information sheets and consent forms; ethics, Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency and NHS approval submissions; clinical trial planning and safety reporting.
Susan’s early career was as a Senior Scientific Officer for Cancer Research UK where she was involved in research principally on HLA as well as other highly polymorphic areas of the genome both in disease association and anthropological studies.
Susan has been a member and Vice Chair of a Health Research Authority Research Ethics Committee reviewing all phases of clinical trials as well as other research requiring ethical approval. She has also been a Health Research Authority trainer in various topics including Adults Lacking Capacity to consent, the Declaration of Helsinki and Informed Consent in research.
