The Oxford Vaccine Centre’s COVID-19 vaccine trial is being run by the Jenner Institute and Oxford Vaccine Group. The team, who started work on developing a vaccine to prevent COVID-19 on 20th January 2020 is led by Prof. Sarah Gilbert, Prof. Andrew Pollard, Prof. Teresa Lambe, Dr Sandy Douglas, Prof. Catherine Green and Prof. Adrian Hill.
NON-COVID RESEARCH STATEMENT
The Oxford Vaccine Group will be continuing with some of our non-COVID research, particularly our paediatric studies, during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is because as part of these studies we give babies their routine primary immunisations on behalf of their GPs. This reduces the administrative burden on the NHS, allowing them to free up capacity and prioritise their workload to be focused on doing what is necessary to manage the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The participants also benefit from having the vaccines in the safety of their homes or a convenient location.

OVG is part of the National Immunisation Schedule Evaluation Consortium; a collaboration between a network of Academic Clinical Research groups and the UK Health Security Agency, with a brief of conducting clinical research relevant to UK immunisation policy.
