Bio

Stéphane is a consultant in paediatric infectious diseases at Oxford University Hospitals and an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Oxford. After medical training in Belgium, he trained in paediatrics in the US and in the UK. Stéphane was a fellow in paediatric infectious diseases in Vancouver, Canada from 2005 to 2008 and a consultant at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool, UK from 2010 to 2018. He joined the team in Oxford in 2018 and now leads the antimicrobial stewardship and the Infection Prevention and control activities at the Children’s Hospital. His research interests include antimicrobial studies and the use of biomarkers to enhance antimicrobial stewardship. Stéphane is the deputy director of the Postgraduate Diploma and the Masters in paediatric infectious diseases taught at the University. He was Secretary (2012-2016), then Convenor (2016-2020) of the British Paediatric Allergy, Immunity and Infection Group (BPAIIG).
