The award recognises an exceptional early career researcher making significant contributions to vaccine science and translational vaccinology.
Dr Kim is a Principal Investigator at the Oxford Vaccine Group, and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Paediatrics. His research focuses on translational vaccinology, spanning vaccine platform technologies, rational antigen design, experimental medicine, and the development of next-generation vaccines for emerging infectious diseases.
“Vaccinology is fundamentally collaborative, and this recognition reflects the support, insight and generosity of many colleagues, students, mentors and collaborators who have shaped my development,” comments Dr Kim.
“I am especially grateful to my supervisors and senior mentors at Oxford, to our international partners across academia, clinical research and industry, and to the wider vaccine community working together to address major global infectious disease challenges.
This award is a reminder that progress in vaccinology depends not only on scientific innovation, but also on trust, partnership and shared purpose.”
The Vaccine Congress brings together researchers, clinicians, public health experts and industry leaders from across the world to share advances in vaccine research, technology and global health.
As part of the award, Dr Kim has been invited to deliver a 20-minute keynote lecture at the Congress, which will take place in Seville, Spain, from 14–16 September 2026.
