We extend our congratulations to OVG colleagues, Elena Mitsi and Simon Drysdale, on their recent appointment as Associate Professors.

At OVG, Elena Mitsi's current research primarily focuses on bacterial and viral (SARS-CoV-2, RSV and flu) co-infection in the human respiratory tract, the usage of airway organoids in studying bacterial and viral infection and the design of effective preventative treatments. While Simon Drysdale's research focuses on RSV and encompasses other viral respiratory illnesses, antimicrobial stewardship, alongside holding the positions of Clinical Lecturer and Honorary Speciality Registrar.

 

The role of Associate Professor reflects a prestigious milestone in their academic and professional career with appointment by the University of Oxford signifying their remarkable individual contributions to the expansion of medical science research and recognition of their excellence and dedication to academic teaching at the University of Oxford.
